Step Outside of Your Comfort Zone

When was the last time you did something that made you step outside of your comfort zone?

It is so natural to become comfortable and complacent in life. While there is nothing wrong with being comfortable – life’s gems often lie just a little beyond the reach of our regular routine.

Stepping out of our comfort zone doesn’t always warrant doing something big and bold. We can stretch ourselves in the simplest things we do. When I am looking to get outside of the bubble, I will devote a day to seeing life before me through a new perspective. Sometimes it is intentionally setting out to see what happens if I don’t take anything personally and instead stay open and curious to all conversations around me. This may sound straightforward, and it actually it is. It can also be a way to push past what may have become a regular habit and routine of viewing life. Our bubbles and boxes that we live in are of our own making. So venturing outside can actually become a creative and fun endeavor that we regularly embark on.

The ways we can step outside of our comfort zone are endless and personal to each of us. Some people may initiate more or difficult conversations with others, others may start a new activity or sign up for something they never would have imagined they would have the courage to do. When we ask ourselves the honest question, ‘how can I stretch myself today’, the answer is generally right at the surface.

See what happens when you step out into the rainbow of your life. You may be surprised by how exhilarating it can feel. With regular practice, it may become even more interesting that the bubble that was once comfortable, can become the very thing that begins to feel uncomfortable.

How might you step out of your comfort zone today?
