Words are powerful. When we are being mindful of how we speak, we can purposefully choose words that are kind, clear and in line with our truth.
If I am feeling a little low, or if I am being critical of myself and others, I practice ‘focusing on the words I speak aloud’. This always has a way of turning things around and helping me to feel happy and hopeful about the world around me again.
This is a great practice to try out for an entire day, and then grow it from there. Commit to being really mindful of the words you speak out loud for an entire day. If you find yourself about to say something negative or unkind about yourself, someone else or a situation, see if you can stop yourself and turn it around. Better yet, try to turn what you were about to say into something kind instead.
This can be a bit challenging at first, but not to worry if you slip up throughout the day, don’t use it as fuel to be hard on yourself. This is a practice and you can hit the restart button at any point and move forward from where you are. Sometimes noticing our patterns is all it takes to see where we have room to grow. Realizing we have control in what we give out and how we are impacted by this output can be really empowering.
The messages we spread out into the world is our offering. I can’t think of a better offering to give than to spread kindness and love as often as we can – we are all that powerful.
How might you choose words that are kind and in line with your truth today?
