Confidence Booster Series: Inspiration
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
This week’s focus is to utilize your sources of inspiration to help you stick with your dreams. When we wholeheartedly believe in ourselves and believe that our dreams can and will come true, we can’t help but take the steps to make them happen.
The trouble comes when we begin to doubt ourselves or doubt the validity of our dreams. It is common to allow outside voices and opinions to extinguish our own and as a result we can begin to lose faith in our deepest desires and dreams.
Eleanor Roosevelt is a classic example of someone who stayed the course through tough times and believed in the beauty of her dreams as well as the hopes and dreams she had for others. Many of her beliefs and platforms were viewed as controversial at the time. Yet she moved forward advocating for the things she was passionate about. She persevered and continued towards these dreams anyway. By the end of her life she was widely respected by many and had become regarded as one of the most esteemed women in the world. I can’t help but think she must have had some powerful sources of inspiration that propelled her forward in the face of adversity and controversy she found herself in at various stages of her life. Her legacy has served to be an inspiration for many people to this day.
Knowing what inspires me has become an integral part of staying on the path of turning my dreams into reality. Whenever I begin to veer off the path and allow self-doubt to creep in, I look to my sources of inspiration to help put me back on track. I find that time with friends, exercising, quiet space, water views and nature to all be very powerful ways I get inspired to write and stay connected with my dreams.
The above picture was taken by a great friend at a time when I needed a boost. I was able to combine a run, time with a good friend and the beautiful serene backdrop of nature to rejuvenate me and help me back on my path. Having tools in place that we can draw upon when we need them most is so valuable.
Whether you are looking to launch a new career, take your organization to a whole new level or perhaps take the next step in a relationship, there will be doubts and worries along the way that will test you and possibly prevent your dreams from taking flight. Find your sources of inspiration and write them down if you need a reminder of what they are. If you find yourself on the edge of giving up or doubting yourself, tap into the ways you know will give you a boost. Get inspired and keep going. You are worth it.
