Confidence Booster Series: Get Moving
This week’s focus is to ‘Get Moving’ and challenge yourself to the best of your abilities. Exercise is an amazing outlet for boosting confidence. It can initially be daunting to start a new exercise regime, or to stretch those comfort zones and take on a physical challenge. However, I’ve always found that the times I ignore all of the reasons why I shouldn’t, and go ahead and do it anyway, I’m rewarded both physically and mentally. Whenever I run a little further, or climb one more set of stairs, I gain a sense of pride that I start to feel in other areas of my life as well.
This week, try adding more physical exercise to your daily life. If exercise isn’t your thing, start out small and do an activity that you enjoy. You may be amazed by the sense of accomplishment and self-confidence you feel every time you get out there and do it anyway.
If you’re already pretty active, stretch your boundaries and add an element of challenge to your workout. I’ve just started running stairs again and I love the mental challenge that accompanies the physical exertion. Each time I go it’s hard, and I have moments of questioning why I would keep doing this to myself. There is always a point where I wonder how I will ever get through doing one more set. This doesn’t seem to go away, but when I keep moving forward, I build more endurance and resolve to let go of the self-limiting thoughts that tell me ‘I can’t’ do it. I get better and stronger each time ‘I try anyway’.
I believe the practice of moving past self-limiting thoughts, is hugely empowering and can be transferred over to other areas of life. When we prove to ourselves that we can do something in one area of our lives, it becomes so much easier to try it out in other areas. Life can often be a bumpy ride and may never be easy. When we take the initiative to look after ourselves and do things to strengthen our spirit, the journey becomes much more rewarding and joyful.
So Have Fun and Get Moving!
