Our belief in ourselves carries a lot of weight. If we believe in ourselves and trust ourselves, things have a way of feeling like they are okay whether our dreams and desired outcomes are met or not.
On the other hand, when we allow self-doubt to creep into the crevices of our subconscious mind, left on its own, this feeling can permeate all areas of our life, only causing more self-doubt and a lack of self-trust.
I paint this picture, because like so many I understand firsthand what it is like to live from both of these powerful mindsets. I have doubted myself, my abilities and at times my worth and have personally experienced how self-limiting this way of thinking can be – it can be paralyzing.
I have also committed to a self-care practice where I regularly feed the truest part of me who wants to be happy, who wants to live with purpose and who in the face of obstacles and setbacks will continue to chase my dreams and desires. The main reason I keep going is because I have learned that the greatest thrill is in knowing that I am giving it my all and not holding myself back because of fear or doubt. I don’t have to attach my worth to any outcome or experience, good or bad. That’s a very liberating feeling.
Over time, the practice of believing in yourself is what creates a fulfilling journey. It is experiencing your own strength of character and truth of who you are that becomes a far greater achievement than the constantly moving target we can sometimes pin our happiness on.
The trick comes down to trusting and giving yourself permission to be okay with who you are, especially in the face of setbacks or disappointments. Who we are is so much more than our experiences, and when we trust in that, life becomes much more fluid.
I believe we are meant to travel through life open to having a wide range of experiences, some are really hard, others we wish will never end, and all teach us something valuable about life. The most important thing to remember is that all of it is okay, and so are we.
Trust in yourself to create the most fulfilling and personally meaningful journey while you are here, you are worth it!
