Confidence Booster Series: Enjoy the Gifts of Nature
The focus for this week is to take the initiative to get outside and connect with nature. Breathing in fresh air has a way of lifting our spirits.
For many people, spending the majority of their day inside at work is a reality. For others, the cold winter weather results in spending less time enjoying the outdoors. Sometimes, life can get so busy that we can forget to pause while we are outside to truly take in the natural beauty we are surrounded by.
When we take the time to look up at the sky, breathe in the fresh air and appreciate the many incredible sights and sounds nature is consistently offering us, it becomes easier to simply enjoy the present moment and let go of whatever thoughts or stories we may be holding onto that cause stress.
One of my favorite things to do is to run outside. In the wintertime where I live, the temperatures are cool and we get a lot of rain. This climate can make it less enticing for me to lace up my running shoes. I have to say that when I bundle up and get out there anyway, I always have the best run. There is something about coming in from the crisp cool air with rosy cheeks that makes me feel like a kid again.
Whether you get outside for exercise, or to simply take in the sights and sounds, connecting with nature is a consistent and simple way to feel refreshed and empowered. Give it a try.
